Nelko was born in 1970 in Resen - Republic of Macedonia. In 1974 he moves with his family in Skopje where he finishes primary school. Since his early years he shows great interest in music, art, literature and theater. In 1984 he starts to play on a guitar and in 1986 he forms his first bend "Rock for G/G". He performs with this bend at the Rock festival in Skopje. In 1987 he forms the bend Metalmania and with this bend he has more performances. In 1988 he starts to write poetry and plays and he is involved in more amateur sections and theaters in Skopje. In the same year he works as a referent for culture of the summer youth camp "Skopje '88". He finishes the secondary school for economy and low in 1989. He serves in military in 1989-1990. In 1991 he starts his studies on the Philological faculty on the group of comparative literary in Skopje. In the same year he starts his professional theater and film career.
He forms the theater "BOEMI" and until 1999 he produces and directs 13 theater performances. In 1992 he starts his studies on the National academy for theater and film "Krsto Sarafov" in Sophia - Republic of Bulgaria on the groups for theater and film directing. In 1994 with the individual program he finishes the five year studies with the diploma performance "NORA" from Henrik Ibzen and the diploma film "Resurrection". In 1993 he initiates and forms the organization Theatrical Youth of Macedonia that is the only organization that takes care about the youth theatrical and dramatic creation in Republic of Macedonia. Soon after this he becomes its president. In summer 1995 he works as an assistant -director on the Macedonian movie "Across the lake". In the period among 1995-1997 he works as a television director in Macedonian Television where he directs documentary films, documentary serials, music clips and commercials. Since 1997 he is professionally engaged in the theater "BOEMI" as an art manager and director.
In 1997, Nelko is chosen to be a president of Macedonian Center for Culture and Development. This is a non-governmental organization which basic aim is development and international presentation of the Macedonian culture, art, education, civil society, economy and ecology. In 1999 with his spouse he forms the musical duo "Sarosh" and in the same year he records the first album with the same title. In the same year he forms the production company "Sarosh" for film, music and television production. He lives in New York since 1999 where he continues with his artistic career and also as a director of the Macedonian Center for Culture and Development in New York.
Nelko has been involved in more Macedonian delegation in the official visits on the UN - New York, USA, the Council of Europe-Strazbur, France, EXPO '98 and the World Youth Festival in Lisbon, Portugal. He has been on two studies travels trough the west European countries and in Turkey.
With the theater "BOEMI" and as a president of Theatrical youth of Macedonia he has taken part in more theatrical festivals in the country and abroad.
In the frames of the Theatrical Youth of Macedonia and in collaboration with MCCD every year he organizes the theatrical festival "Faces without Masks" and in 1997/98 he has organized the Macedonian Ecology Campagne.
As a president of the Macedonian Center for Culture and Development he participates in Roayomon process of the European Union and Council of Europe for improvement of the inter-neighbor relations in central and eastern Europe.
He writes poetry, plays, movie scripts and essays.
He speaks English, Serbo-Croatian and Bulgarian language and he use Russian.
He is married and he lives and works in Skopje - Republic of Macedonia and in New York -USA.
The work of Nelko in the theater art is closely related with the creation of the Theater "Boemi". This theater was formed in 1991 as an independent alternative professional theater and since 1992 it has a financial support from the state of Republic of Macedonia.
For the director, this theater makes his dreams come true. Creating a performance, the freedom in using a different kind of expressing means and choice of actors is a magical ritual for him. The results can be easily seen in the performances that are so alive, powerful and extant with a strong idea and a communicable theater energy.
Nelko Nelkovski is a director, actor, dramaturgist, art manager and initiation motive energy of the Theater "BOEMI". In the period among 1991-1999, Nelko has directed 13 performances in this theater. As a director he pays attention in every segment of his work on the performance like a selection of the actors team which is by his opinion one of the main thinks for successful performance, then the directing which is very important and with which he tries to discover new innovative elements, then the scenography, coustimografy and the musical development of the performance.
Working with the actors is the most important segment in the work of Nelko as a director. Adopting all modern access of work with the actor, from the Stanislavsky's school, to the modern access of Eugenio Barba and Andrea Miuskin, he leads his actors trough labyrinth of the theater performance to the final creation of the successfully formed artistic show.
As a theater director he works on a different kind of performances: classical drama, visual theater, experimental theater, theater laboratory etc.
Nelko also works as an actor and he play and create characteristic roles with the strong expression. As a director and as a actor he is a complete person when playing and creating a roles from many writers like Sofokle, Evripid, Shakespeare, Cehov, Becket, Pinter, Bergman, Strinberg, Ibzen, Hajner, Miler, Goran Stefanovski as much as the roles from his own plays.
Besides the artistic part, Nelko works out and leads all producer's arrangements from ensuring financial resources, trough the organization of the rehearsals, performances and tours and analysis of the results. The work on the production of the performances gives him an opportunity in every moment to have a complete control on the artistic project that he creates and to react on time about the final product. All the engagements in the theater for Nelko are elements of the theater magic that he creates on the stage.
The theater is not the only place were Nelko work. He also works on multimedia projects and he has directed several celebrations, campaigns, concerts and other projects.

The magic of the film occupies Nelko since his early years. Creating movies, the opportunity to be a creator of a new reality, the need of artistic expressions of the deep desires are initiation forces of his film creation. You can see that from his completed film and television projects. In the visual expression of the contents, Nelko takes care especially on the details in the films entirety. He understands the film as an opportunity for invisible physical and spiritual process from one side and the analytical visualization of the physical elements from the other to be shown on the screen.
After he finishes his studies, he works as a first assistant director on the Macedonian movie "Across the lake". This is his first professional engagement on film and very important for him. The knowledge that he had from the academy helped him to materialized his three year work as a television director in Macedonian Television. In that three years when he worked as a TV director, he has directed more than 1000 hours of TV programs- documentary films, educational serials, artistic portraits and other kind of programs. With this kind of work he has improved his sense for visual medium, the practical everyday creation of the TV programs and their production.
In this period he has produced 3 documentary films that are especially important for learning the process of the TV production's entirety.
The ecological film "Let's preserve the world" written and directed by Nelko Nelkovski participates on the Festival Princes Award in Denmark.

Writing is one part of the entire work of Nelko. He starts writing prose at 12. In his teenage years he starts writing poetry and plays. In 1989 he writes his first play "Plebeec" In the academy period he writes film scripts and starts publishing his work since 1994. He has published this books:

Writing for Nelko is especially important for his artistic creation. The inventing of stories, their developing, creating protagonists and antagonists and creating new reality is very exiting process for him. The everyday stories that he hears are transformed in the written artistic works: poetry, play and film script.
Nelko writes and articles for newspapers and essays. He has special interest for theatrical performances and their analyses for the process of creation of the theater performance. He writes film's critics.
The work in non-governmental organizations brings experience and positive energy. The communication with a lot of people, realization of the projects that are important for the society gives an opportunity for the artist without loosing his time to do concrete changes in the sphere where he is engaged.
Nelko Nelkovski works and is engaged in several non-governmental organizations. He is president of Theatrical Youth of Macedonia - the only organization that cares about the youth theater's creation. Every year in frame of this organization an Open Theatrical University is organized that makes theater art to be accessible for all young people. Theatrical Youth of Macedonia organizes a theater festival " Faces without masks" and a lot of young theater artists can present their performances. As a president of this organization Nelko has participated on more theater festivals in the country and in the world.
Since 1997 Nelko Nelkovski is a president of the Macedonian Center for Culture and development (MCCD). This organization is a net of organizations, artistic groups andartists who have common projects. Macedonian Center for Culture and Development (MCCD) is organization which aims are: improving and developing the Macedonians culture, art, education, economy, ecology and civil society in Republic of Macedonia; presenting, representing and affirming programs and Macedonian organizations in this segments in the world.
Since 1999 Nelko is a manager of MCCD in New York - USA.
Nelko has organized and participated in several campaigns on the national level like the campaign for tolerance, campaign for globalization that were organized in frame of the Council of Europe. In 1997 Nelko has organized Macedonian Ecological Campaign that was the biggest media project in Macedonia for protection of the environment. This campaign consist of a theater performance, documentary film, ecology book and all that was presented all around Macedonia.
